One of the most powerful things you can do in the Clean pillar is reduce your daily exposure to plastics.
Your body is Designed to Heal, but it wasn’t designed to constantly deal with microplastics and the chemicals that come with them. Every small step you take to remove these hidden interferences gives your body more energy to do what it does best — regenerate and thrive.
How Microplastics Affect Us
Once plastic particles enter the body, they can interact with cells, organs, and hormones. Research has linked them to:
- Disruption of hormone balance
- Increased chronic inflammation and immune stress
- Oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction
- Gut health and digestion issues
- Ability to cross into protected areas (including the brain)
These are real concerns — but the good news is that you have more power than you might think to reduce your exposure.
Practical Ways to Lower Plastic Exposure
You don’t need to do everything at once. Pick one or two changes that feel doable right now:
- Drinking water: Switch to reverse osmosis (RO) water or use glass/stainless steel bottles instead of single-use plastic.
- Kitchen tools: Replace plastic cutting boards with wood or bamboo. Switch to stainless steel or cast-iron cookware. Use metal silverware.
- Food storage: Move leftovers and meal prep into glass containers instead of plastic.
- Cooking & heating: Retire old scratched nonstick pans and plastic electric kettles.
- Shopping habits: Buy produce loose when possible (bring your own reusable cotton bags). Choose fresh foods over heavily packaged items.
- Salt & pantry staples: Opt for clean, tested salts (like Diamond Crystal) and products with transparent sourcing.
These small swaps add up. You don’t have to achieve a perfectly plastic-free life — you just need to move in the right direction.
You make your decisions, and you own your results. Every time you choose glass over plastic, wood over plastic, or fresh over packaged, you’re sending a clear signal to your body: “I’m removing interference so you can heal and function better.”
